The Other Half DC: Women in Beer Panel
This awe-inspiring curated collection of panelists will represent different roles in craft beverage, with the goal of creating a well-balanced view from the entirety of the collective. Guests and attendees get to meet, greet, ask questions and have a more personal connection than a traditional panel.
There are so many different roles women fulfill in craft beer, with not enough representation. The goal is to walk away from the evening having reciprocated inspiration and provided knowledge to those who are interested in the industry. Let’s have meaningful conversations and share ideas that may generate actionable items (big or small) and help build relationships.
Note: Guests will be divided into 4 groups for this event, so be prepared to share a large table/area with others.
$5 of every ticket sold will be donated to Pink Books Society. Members teach each other through seminar programs and help advance front-of-house and back-of-house careers by raising money for educational scholarships. Pink Boots Society is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that relies on the continuous support of donations from industry partners, members and community supporters.
The $38 tickets also include two slices of Pizza from Andy’s and two 12oz draft beers from Other Half and a 6oz cocktail made with Lyon Rum!

Women’s History Month Collaboration
Women’s History Month is almost here and that means it is time for another great collaboration with Checkerspot Brewing Company to celebrate women in beer history! We are also ramping up for the great St. Patrick’s Day holiday, creating a perfect marriage for a delightfully delicious stout!
This small batch collaboration of Shannon Cream Stout is recreated from the 1960’s recipe from the American Brewery in Baltimore. Friday, March 3 at 6pm, I will give a history of the brewery and the beer and the role of women in the beer industry and as a target beer consumer at that time.
Help us kick off Women’s History month by drinking beer at a woman-owned brewery and celebrating the rich history of beer in Baltimore!
A portion of the proceeds benefits The Well & Hon’s Honey, a local group that raises women out of the cycle of poverty and trafficking. This is a small batch as we dial in the recipe for larger scale production next year, so let us know what you think!
200 Years in the Making
Kick off Women’s History Month on March 5th with this once in a generation event! In 1822, Mary Eaton wrote the definitive book on how to brew quality beer that has stood the test of time, The Cook and Housekeeper’s Complete & Universal Dictionary. Mary was a stickler for quality, and suffered no fools or bad brews! Join us as we share her legacy of remarkable beer.
Ticketholders will enjoy two brief talks on the inimitable Mary Eaton (2:30 pm) and the history of women brewers (1:30 pm) along with a bottle of Mary’s special occasion ale, we chose to name Pernicious Mary.
Don’t miss this incredibly special event and even more historically tantalizing treats including:
3 other small batch beers brewed from Mary Eaton’s 200 year old recipes:
Good Beer (5.7% abv)
Wholesome Beer (3.5% abv)
Agreeable Table Beer
Open Bar
Lunch Buffet
VIP ($70) includes early entry at 12pm and a very special and limited (only 30 available) 12 oz bottle of Pernicious Mary, a 12.8% ale brewed and barreled in March 2020 and bottled March 2021, as per the recipe from 1822.
GA ($40)
Uncle Buck? No! Admiral Buck!!
Join me and Checkerspot Brewing Company owner/ Brewer Judy Neff for the release for Admiral Buck, a 9.8% Imperial Bock Beer recreated from 1880’s Baltimore brewer Edward Stiefel. A short talk on the recipe recreation, history of Carrolton Brewery and life as a brewer in 19th century Baltimore will accompany the release November 24, 2021 beginning at 5 pm. Do not miss this once in a lifetime release. The Bock beer was aged in Constellation rum and Bourbon barrels provided by Tobacco Barn Distillery.
Still a Hero Release
Even though there is a pandemic, fantastic beers are being produced. Check out the latest historical collaboration with Judy Neff of Checkerspot Brewing: Still a Hero. This 1870’s Baltimore Porter is truly heroic. You won’t want to miss the inspiring story of the legendary hero and Baltimore brewer that first created this great brew!
